I came across this item by accident on my grandparents homestead, Dimple, TX, 36 miles NE of Paris, TX. I originally was trying to dig out an old washing machine that my grandmother use to wash our clothes in, from under a horse barn that had collapsed and only the roof remain standing. I found the top when I stepped on it and began to dig it out with a spoon I had in the glove box of my car. I then started searching for anything else that went with it. It took me about an hour to find the body, once I did I went to a neighbors house and borrowed a shovel and dug my way under until I could crawl on my stomach to tie a rope around the door opening to pull it out with my car.
It took me two days to find all the pieces to this item. I am estatic that I ran across this item. My grandparents settled on this land over 100 yrs ago. It is priceless and will never be for sale.
I have it in my flower garden in Paris Tx.
My grand parents settled on this land over 100 years ago.

Just one question, if the water is hot why do you need to heat it ? "HOT" Water Heater ? It's a Water Heater !! Hey someone had to say it and I guess it's my job. :-)

Hello, I would say your Grandparents were some of the true Pioneers of this country that helped make America great. I feel it's always nice to see the younger generations that are interested enough to go back through time to see how rough it really was during the earlier times. I always liked to make the comment that being spoiled is best, only when you know you are. Too many nowadays, haven't a clue. Nice that you were able to purchase the property again. Here is a link you might find interesting. https://new.liveauctioneers.com/item/11189001_1424-antique-cast-iron-ruud-hot-water-heater-c1890-191
