iv had this plane since i was around seven years old i dug it up along with a nice penny that iv found out to be worth the $1,300 mark. as for my trench art iv been serching all over to try and find what type of plane it is what its made out of and if there are any more getting around but so far i havent managed to find a single thing that comes close to it. the map of australia has RAAF in it and the plane mounts on top and all together is around 2 to 3 kilograms. any help or input would be a grate help please email me if you can provide some answers. my email is cdouglass@webmail.co.za
Wish I could see the tail configuration, but probably a Short Sterling heavy bomber. Trench art is, in my observations, stylized so it could be a B-17.
cheers for your input and ill take a few more photos of it tonight and upload tham. i was looking at the b-17 planes and thay do look verry alike. what metal do you suggest it would be made of and is there anywhere in or anyone that would be best to contact to have it valued.
There isn't enough detail, including colour of metal to say. It doesn't look that big so 2-3Kg would make out brass or even lead! You have to give something that a person can work with, like weight, wing span etc.. Haphazard guess at weight & lousy pics won't do it. The colour looks silver in your pics & at 2-3kg, that would compute to weight of silver.
Are there absolutely no marking? That would be odd for something that is obviously not trench-art but manufactoured. You certainly know what R.A.A.F. stands for.
I don't collect "trench-art" but know aircraft , style & metal weights per size.
Im with blunderbuss, dad was a bombader on a B-17. Built him a nice model of one. You need to post better pict.s of it.
Is there a "bellygun" protrusion?
raaf stands for Royal Australian Air Force. and i cant find any type of markings at all on it. i know its not lead from the sound when you bump tham together. the wing spand is 28.5cm. from nose to tail is 18.5cm. the map of australia is 15cm wide and 12cm from top to bottom. im just working out my partners camra now and ill post some detailed photos soon. and the plane has two bellyguns.

Pics still leave a lot to be desired. The tail section is incorrect for the Short Sterling or B-17. The abrupt angle of the front of the vertical stabilizer is like the Sterling as the B-17 had a long curved slope into the fuselage. The rudder matches neither as it too rounded aft.
I think it is a stylized bomber unless it is post war or a design I'm not familiar with. Most if not all planes go thru design changes after going into service & rudder design was 1 of the most common.
