Here is a favorite of mine, I call them organ shapes. ORGAN: as in liver or heart or some internal body part. I give the credit to Kralik because a few related shapes are signed with the arched acid etched Czechoslovakia mark. They were probably made late in the Czech period maybe after 1930-end of WW 11. in the last picture you can see this type was just thrown in with tango "pull-up" application pieces- even Passau doesnt know what to make of this thing!

    1- confetti and powders
    2- Marbled
    3- confetti with honeycomb pattern
4-(sitting in Passau among tango) Cased tango with white dollop applications

there are also tango with or without drip appications.

The second pic is the most like mine :)
    2. jericho jericho, 12 years ago
yeah the decor is very similar, kind of like a base was created with glass chips and the next layer was a mix of glass powders and chips- with a crystal casing layer of glass. email me and i show you a bunch of the same decor in different shapes.

Just one question: the yellow tango pieces on the fourth pic, are they Kralik too?
    6. jericho jericho, 12 years ago
that cabinet contains a hodgepodge of glass makers, loetz, kralik, welz etc... my gues is they sometimes do the same this as i do witch is start with decor technique- in this case pull-ups
    7. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 12 years ago
what can you say about the small vase by the blue one, the one with the black base??? I have just spotted one in a shop in Madrid and I may get it...

The yellow bowl with the pull-ups in pic 4 is a Welz bowl. That shape is shown in the production literature.
    13. truthordare truthordare, 5 years ago
"production literature' implies a document that has an originally identified provenance in some way.... I don't consider a pile of old papers from a relative would fit that criteria.

This bowl has many versions, the literature shows a spatter exterior and a pale opaque glass casing. Does not mean any and all in a similar shape with curled feet and other decors are Welz.
      This one might be.

TOD says: ""production literature' implies a document that has an originally identified provenance in some way.... I don't consider a pile of old papers from a relative would fit that criteria."

You just keep proving my point about you over and over again in this forum...... Thanks for your ludicrous comment Lisa..... and just when I think you have lowered the bar as far as you can.... You step right up and prove me wrong.....

      You never disappoint..... :-)

Just for fun....... Some additional examples of the Welz shape found on a page of pictures of "some glass" included in a "pile of old papers" from some family...... ROTFLMFAO......

Lisa, this pull up decor is common in at least three companies (the usual suspects). The documented part is the shape and it does match the worthpoint example (it also comes in three sizes and many decors). The lineage and research is good, three drip application snail feet. This Welz is not shared with curators or exhibited in museums. I tried to get Craig and Jitka (a Czech curator and author) to get together and maybe publish or share info, this has not happened yet; no fault on Craig’s fault. Craig’s research is good and he has obsessed many years over it and needs no additional PHD in glass arts or history to help him with research. If a book is eventually published I would be happy to promote it. As for now, these forums are equivalent to a book and in some ways better.

This picture was taken by me in Passau about 15 years ago- this case is not the same any more. We are ahead of glass researchers, auction houses and curators because we share our research- If you think I sound boastful do a search on some online auction -You will find one of two things: they don’t care or they don’t know what Welz is.

Thanks Jericho, but her ignorance is willful and motivated by a personal dislike of me..... The only sad part is there may be folks who do not understand how little she knows and may actually misinterpret some of her garbage as being factual.
    18. truthordare truthordare, 5 years ago
Not at all, glad Jericho is happy to believe in your assertions and supports, Jitka L. is another breed of expert, raised in the Czech Republic with a vast amount of lifetime knowledge, the sort of experience you can't acquire in USA. So, I am not the only one to hesitate and question the Welz research and claims......

The dislike is how I am treated directly and indirectly by someone who should be used to not being agreed with. That happens to people who make new claims in every field.

His unkind retaliatory behavior, does not inspire any positive tolerancere either. Of course, these are never mentioned but you hear over and over again how I have have mistreated and publicly rejected Craig ideas....

As if CW is not a public venue as well, I count 6 years now of this mutual bad faith.

""production literature' implies a document that has an originally identified provenance in some way.... I don't consider a pile of old papers from a relative would fit that criteria."

FAMILY documents on the family business-- exactly what collectors/ historians look for to establish provenance!

Funny how this initial attack (post #13) quickly turns to an "I am the victim" in the very next posting (post #19)!

So Jericho's support of, and belief in my Welz research, is unkind retaliatory behavior towards you..... :-) Interesting.

It is not that you disagree with me Lisa. It is that you make ludicrous statements as if they are fact, and are ill prepared to back up your claims.

You like to marginalize the beliefs of others (anyone that disagrees with you), and have NEVER provided anything other than negative commentary to support you amazingly inaccurate perceptions. When asked questions about your claims, you turn to personal attacks as a method of deflection or avoidance..... You see it as effective.... most see it for exactly what it is.

I have a pretty large selection of historical documents from the granddaughter of Franz Alois Welz, documents which are undeniably from the Welz family and what they claim they are. You choose to attempt to diminish their value and question their authenticity, and have tried to do so repeatedly in this forum..... and you now describe them as a "pile of old papers" that you do not believe are, what they claim..... All the while expecting that people in this forum are going to take your word for it..... and those that disagree with you should not call your unsupported opinion out as the "pile" it is.

Your comment on this post was to serve no purpose other than criticizing a claim that I actually can support...... and one it would appear that Jericho also agrees with..... and you do so with claims you are completely incapable of supporting.... basically because they are not factual.....

      Same Lisa..... different month.....

=So Jericho's support of, and belief in my Welz research, is unkind retaliatory behavior towards you..... :-) Interesting.=

Craig, totally missed my point and the message was not meant for you, it was for Jericho who can do and say what he wishes. I have no bone to pick with that at all. He was kind to me at a time that made a big difference, I will not forget that. You would not understand, it's about loyalty and respecting other peoples choices.....
    22. welzebub welzebub, 5 years ago
So I see Lisa, you are back to the post where you started this whole round of interactions.... and then proceeded to post information about Welz that is blatantly false in your own posts..... Someday you may actually be able to leave it alone.... I don't have high hopes, but maybe......
