This doll had hand made clothes on it. I took off the clothes and found hand written name on it. Turns out that the name is someone my parents know who gave them the doll. Also has a 1962 date written in marker. Not sure why the clothes were changed but this is how I found the doll. Can you tell me how to identify this doll? Could these things be purchased in a kit and hand made?
love the pearls, but that knit jumpsuit just escapes me...
I know. Most of the dolls I am trying to research have hand knitted clothes. It's over whelming at times. :)
She is a homemade ceramic class doll. Woman would take doll classes and make their own. You used their mold to fire the bisque head and could by arms and legs already made from shop . You did all the painting yourself and made the body from a pattern they would sell you . The person who made it did sign it like she was supposed to as it is a reproduction of what is called a "low Brow China doll" Anytime you copy a doll you have to sign it . She must have loved dolls and enjoyed making them clothes too . The doll has no real value on market but would hold sentimental value to a family member .
Oh the doll was made in 1962 just as they dated it . It is not a true antique china doll .
Thank you very much
your very welcome :-) and so kind of you to thank me too :-)
I would be lost without this website. I just love that you take your time to help me out with these dolls. :)
We enjoy solving and sharing our collections on this site . Lots of good people and have lots of people that can ID different items . I just happened to have been a doll collector and time to pass on what I have learned for next generation of collectors. I love helping people like you that appreciate it and know we do this as volunteers and because we like it , Best to you and again thanks for nice comment about CW !
