Thisis is dooling 29 model engine. It was also used in model tether racing cars and u control race planes . I worked out the price of the engine at a local hobby shop . The name of the place was THE MODEL AIRPLANE SHOP. 120 Broadway , owned by an elderly german couple. I never ran the engine as the engine propeller shaft was too big for the props available and the race plane was too expensive. It was a downsized model of the very popular Dooling 6o.
I love these old engines. RC flying models are another hobby of mine. I have a few engines (not as nice as yours), I keep them in my display case right along with all the model cars! To me, these old engines are functional jewels. Love it!
Thank You for your comment Flanker.
I still have the engines I bought in the 50's My First was a Mc Coy 19 rear intake flown in a home built model and hand assembled radio control. plane was rudder only with a rubberband escapement to control the rudder. Very tricky to fly. Still have that #*&%> escapement
he oldest one I have is a 1959 O.S. Pet .099 with the throttle for RC. It's a pretty little engine. I also have a late 1960s rudder-only escapement model (Carl Goldberg Jr Falcon for 0.049) that was given to me by an uncle who was into the hobby for decades. It's beautifully covered in the original red and black silk finish. The plane doesn't have it's escapement gear anymore. I have been considering putting in a little brushless motor and lipo system, and maybe adding an elevator.
