Brought this Vendo home today as my centerpiece. I had the perfect spot for it. A local Craigslist purchase, seller lives the next town over in Holt, Mich. (widely known around CW as "Home of The Coca-Cola Kid"! :) This baby was manufactured late 50's. Mostly original as far as I can tell, though it's missing a few things (inside coin catcher, bottom 3 of 7 shelves feeding vending slots). Bottle dispenser door may be a replacement. A good piece for a beginner like me! I have a feeling I'll be learning A LOT more about this machine in the future (service 1-800-vendo56?). I consulted TGBWC on the transaction. He was like Knute Rockne sending The Gipper in with a play. I hit 'em hard and drove the ball down the field for a scooooooooooooore! Ah, it's a lot of fun. OK, that's it for awhile. I had to go to The Boss for a stimulus package to finance this one. So I'm taking it easy from here on out. No I really mean it. Really. I do... :)
*Any advice from you Coke machine lovers will be greatly appreciated.*
Ahhhh, Vendo baby yeah! IMO there were Vendos and then everything else, great find Dave. Really clean inside too, take good care of that baby. I might wanna buy it from ya someday.
Thanks Perry and Ray! I've just been sitting here staring at it for the last hour. I'm happy to do the vacuuming for the next year (part of the "stimulus" deal).
TGBWC, I wish they made a Coca-Cola theme treadmill. I gotta hop on it soon, getting a little rotund these days. Thanks again for the pointers, I'll definitely put a mat down, never woulda thought of it.
The bottle door I'm not sure. I thought same thing, should be a see-through glass door. But this one looks like it's always been on the machine, it was not made to be see-through (solid case on back side, not recessed like glass was there at one time). could be an old replacement door.
Egggzactly! Other's do it all the time.
OH BOY, I see an empties rack in your future. Great Grab. Soda-Machines.com is a nice reference site and there is a forum to answer all of your burning questions.
Thanks Tommy. You make a good point. Isn't it funny how buying a Coca-Cola piece can lead to the need to buy more... and more... and more? :)
Yes please, I want more! And I have like 8 pieces coming in right now.
Each piece has at least a gazillion others that compliment it so well, that you just have to get them all. You can't escape your addiction, but you can take steps to live with it, lol!!!
Lol, right you are Tommy.
Really nice looking machine. Saw the question about the bottle door and yours is original. The 56 came with 2 different door styles, one solid and one with glass. The solid door is actually more common. The solid door is actually the reason for the message on the front of the machine telling buyers to check to see if there is any product in the mchine before purchasing. Congrats on the purchase - it looks great.
Thanks, ilikecoinop for stopping by and commenting. I'm enjoying the machine.
yes great looking machine... I might have some extra shelves available for a v56
