I have a Civil War Union Bounty List. Dated Aug. 31, 1864 this item is inscribed, "We the undersigned agree to pay the sums set opposite our names for the purpose of raising one hundred dollars more for each volunteer to fill the quota for Clinton Township"(PA). This was to raise money for soldiers fighting at the end of the Civil War. Each pledge is marked as paid or crossed out. Does anyone know if such document has any value?

    Thank you

I have seen such documents have value to collectors. Civil War items are especially sought after. However, other factors such as condition, are there any well known individuals listed, is it associated with any significant event ( i.e. battle) determine how much value. Nice piece of history to have in your collection.

      Yes-- it does have value.

More than money its value lies in recording history. Later in the Civil War, money was often more of a motivator than patriotism. Money could keep people out of service and motivate others to join.
