Hi all - This post was originally inspired by Agram.m's snake ring post - http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/59843-very-old-golden-snake-ring-with-row?in=user

but it took me weeks to find my photos!

I inherited this ring from an estate, and though it's a little beat up I love the snake design.

It is a brass-colored metal with no gems or jewels. I'm most curious about the ethnic origins, as I know the owner was a world traveler and feel like this does not appear to be a piece of American jewelry.

    Love to know your thoughts!

Thanks for showing us Hunter. Yes it has some resemblance with my snake ring. But till this moment I still don't know more about it. So we both wait for a collector who can tell us more about our rings!

Not a collector, lol. But the coiled snake rings were a "Victorian" era symbol, that signafide every lasting love. That's all I can contribute to these.

Here's an out-take from a link on Snake rings:
Queen Victoria of England was very influential. She was a trend-setter and people followed suit. She chose a rather unusual engagement ring. It was a snake ring A snake represents perpetual regeneration as in shedding your skin and starting all over, protection and eternal love, as well as ancestral power, eternity and wisdom. As a result of the queen's choice, during the Victorian era the snake became a popular and commonly used image in jewelry.

thanks so much for the info Kerry - pretty fascinating. Even then people were obsessed with what celebrities wore! :)

      Love the perpetual regeneration imagery...

thanks hunter for your comments on sexy sadie -- i am sure if i make the return comment on my side or the reviewers side -- so i did both -- hoping someone will educate me -- showing up stupid is not one of my favorite suites

so you love snake rings -- so do i and when i saw yours i thought what a beauty -- have one very similar in silver with turquoise eyes -- i think they are such little cuties -- poor little things when they are spotted in the garden they are so afraid harm will come -- but i always tell them -- not in my garden -- all creatures are welcome

hey if we miss contact before the holidays -- wishing you all the very best for this and the coming years in all of your endeavors

I have 3 of these rings, wore them in high school (1980s), mom passed so I have no history. Not my moms style, desperate for more info, history. I scratched off the black on 2 of them (to look like silver, which rubbed down to brass). Also have similar ring with flower instead of snake head. Please help!

interesting - so maybe they were all painted black originally? you have any idea when your mom bought them?
