I'm wondering if anyone can tell me about this lamp. I don't believe it's an authentic Handel Water Lily lamp. My mother said she bought it new sometime between 1955 and 1960, long after the Handel company closed. Also, I've noticed a couple differences in the characteristics of the Handel lamps, most notably the light socket and lack of classic Handel fluting on the base.

The underside is stamped BCL. I would love to know what company made it and whether or not this was intended to be a reproduction of the Handel slag lamps. Anything, really.

It is indeed a Handel reproduction. It is a very good one and has fooled many. There were a few companies that made similar lamps. L&L WMC and Sechrist to name two. Albert Sechrist of Denver Colorado made lamps more contemporary to Handel and L&L WMC of New Jersey made them later. I do not know who BLC is but I have seen This type of lamp before. A tip off is that Handel did not attach the shade in the manner of this one. Still a good decorative lamp and I have seen it sell for $200 give or take.

Thanks very much for your input! I had seen Sechrist--very little info on them on the net. I did not run across L&L WMC in my research. I will look them up!
