He was in WW2 western China 1940s, and Korea 1950s during the war and southeast Asia for many years this was found in his photo box dont know where, or what is going on here any help

looks to me like they're posing for a photograph, or an awards ceremony, and being directed by the guy at center. Can you tell what's on that little tripod? looks like something connected to a cord...possibly a camera or microphone?
It looks like WW11 and Japanese soldiers. May be China since your Dad was there.
Agree-- WW2 era Japanese soldiers in some sort of ceremony.
The flag is a version of the "rising sun". The man appears to be reading into the tripod mounted microphone.

It sure is odd looking to me , Rising sun flag was from what year? if its a microphone must be ww11 or later right?
A couple of things; I think the Japanese invasion of China started around 1931 and lasted right till the end of the war, 1945. and also I believe the flag is a Japanese battle flag.
Were the japans our friends?
