Almeric Walter & Henri Berge signed pate de verre covered box; It was sold to me as very early AW, but with the H. Berge signature (1st photo lower right, hard to see) I believe that makes it more like 1925 or later. There is no Daum Nancy mark, so I think it was made after his days with them. The colors are so rich and deep in the glass; one of my favorites no doubt. I would like to know (if anyone knows) if my dating of post 1925 is more accurate (than "turn of the century c1900"). Enjoy!
Oh!... wow!...:-)
Inky you took the words right out of my mouth...I will add wonderful!
Druot described a similar box in a differing colour-way as being: ".... à décor de baies d'églantines et de scarabées". They mention a citation and picture in : Keith Cummings, "Amalric Walter (1870-1959)", Broadfield House Glass Museum, Compton Drive Kingswinford 2007, page 54.
Thank you vetraio50, I will look for that reference.
I'm in love!!!
I've been to see to the exhibition at Broadfield House Glass Museum twice now and never get bored of standing there admiring it all!!!
Stunning piece you have!!!
Thanks a-o-g, I have never been to that glass museum; but I know what you mean. You want to take mental pictures of everything around you so you won't forget how incredible it all is. It's nice to have some of it at home too, if you can.
Yes you are right : this piece is circa 1925, very typical of AW's 3rd period (1918-1937). It is a beautiful box. If you collect AW's pâtes de Verre, beware of fakes. See a new website about : amalric-Walter.net
