This is one of my best finds at thrift store! John Plumer Ludlum master of light. 1906-1993 He use black light on paintings, see 2nd photo. I have small black light on, it would look better if I had large one above painting. He once sold painting "Nativity" for 2.5 million in 1973, it was 6 feet by 9 feet and took him 2.5 years to complete. Mine is 24" X 36" a good large size. I do not know what religion this is, but the one red light is kind of cool. I will keep this one for sure. I wish I had bigger black light to show the beauty. Soon I will buy good one and mount above painting. toracat

Haha! He is going to set up house and want to take it. You won't want to send it along, too pretty. You could always send it here for safe keeping. I have just the spot; ))

I spent many many days hanging out at his studio in Tustin, CA when I was very young. My parents were good friends of the Ludlum's. I'll never forget the amazing sight of his Nativity mosaic. I watched it unfold over the two-and-a-half years he worked on it. That's where I fell in love with the "Living Light" paintings as did my mom, who was a very talented painter as well and created her own pieces, which I wish I still had. Anyway, this is an excellent find! Definitely a keeper. Very fortunate to have found it.

I too watched the Nativity being painted as my parents (the Jamiseon's) were great friends and owned the building in Tustin where John and Shirley had their gallery. I've just put my mom in assisted living and have quite a few of John's paintings. Not sure what to do with them. Roger
