I stopped at a garage sale today by a nice elder Lady that works at the Country Store I go to, I was shocked to see this new Dr. Pepper thermometer still in it's box. I can't tell you what I paid for it cause after some research I'm going to give her some more money, I think it dates to the 50's. I also grabbed this Old Gold tin I think from the late 50's. Enjoy! UPDATE: She originally said $15 and I gave her my last $20 and she hugged me! I went back the next day and gave her $25 more and also gave her $25 more for an old raingage and some comic books, she loves me! LOL
Hey Ed, this is called the "Tombstone" thermometer by collectors. You found a great one there. I have one as well but in this nice of shape. NIB is hard to beat!
Thanks Signaholic, It has one defect I found, the red mercury or whatever, has seperated, is there any fix for that?
Not really unless you want to replace it with a new mercury tube, sounds easy but it has to fit right. Really has no effect on the value though. I have many that don't work anymore either. It's all about the sign!
