The first are promoting German beers. The ceramic one, made in Germany, but plugging a defunct USA beer, Neuweiler's, of Allentown, PA is a real beauty. The 4th ashtray drums it up for Leroux liquors and Spatola wine, of Philadelphia, PA.

These all look like they could absorb some heavy duty smoking!

Ted - When I was stationed in Germany years ago (1960's) ashtrays and beer mugs were a game. If you could get it out the door it was yours free, if you got caught you had to pay double. That is where I first started collecting ashtrays. You had to wait until the waiter was really busy and then make your get away leaving a buddy to pay the bill.

Hi, fhrjr2…thanks for the comments on the "game"! I love "the story behind the story" :) Maybe that's how the two German ashtrays ended up in The USA….ya never know!

Do you still have your collection?

I have a few, just posted an odd one. I am unpacking stuff and intend getting rid of most of it. Old memories that need to make new memories with someone else. I found a bowling pin ash tray that was made for us in 1969 when we were bowling and also collecting ashtrays
