I've been after one of these AF Restricted Area signs for a long time. They're not something that you find very often. Measures 18" x 18". Made of heavy duty aluminum. These Restricted Area signs are posted on the outside of very sensitive areas on base. And they're not kidding about the use of deadly force. That tells you how sensitive the stuff is. Now all I need to complete my AF signs is a Controlled Area sign.

We've had a lot of bases and smaller sites close down in England and around Europe since the Cold War ended. Perhaps it came from one of those places. Our DRMO (Defense Reutilization and Management Office) holds several sales of surplus items at bases in Europe.

My rooommate is retired from the air force, and we have this exact sign hanging on our basement door! I was curious...how much did this one go for?

I offered the guy $75, and he accepted it. I offered him that much because I really wanted it. He had another one that sold for $40+. That's ok though. I got what I wanted for what I thought was a fair price. I have seen these signs go for over $100. I guess it all depends on how many people want it at that particular time.

Yes these are hard to get a hold of. Nellis A.F.B. in NV has these posted on the inside of the the base fence surrounding it. Great find!

There are some of these that look alike though. The U.S. Air Force Installation sign, the Controlled Area sign, and this Restricted Area sign are all the same size with the same color of lettering. I have the others in my collection as well.
