This is an old Redwing pottery beater jar. One side is marked "Compliments Of Sunder's General Merchandise Jordan, MINN". And the other side is marked "Red Wing BEATER JAR Egg-Cream-Salad Dressing".
It measures approximately 5 1/8" (13 cm) in diameter & 4 11/16" (29.7 cm) tall. It weighs 2lbs 6.4oz (1.09kg).
Why do they call it a beater jar?
There is another piece for these that goes on top which has a manual/hand crank beater attached to it for mixing eggs, cream, etc.... It is hard to find these crocks with the tops.
I found an example & replaced the 4th image in this post with it :)
It all makes sense now, thanks for posting.
Nice beater jar. These with advertisings fetch a nice price in the collectors market.
Thanks for posting that last picture of the beater part. I have one of these jars but never knew there was a beater. ...another thing to keep my eye pealed for.
I have one of these without any advertising on it.
What years were these made?
