Would you believe it???? I went to a moving sale but it turned out mom had passed and the kids were selling the home. They had alot of things for sale, and I asked if they had costume jewelry. They said, oh yeah, she had those jewelery boxes with all that "stuff". I asked how much they wanted for both and before the lady was back with the "boxes" I had bought them for 40.00. I asked if they were sure and they said yes, they didn't have time to go through that "junk". These are AMONG the pieces I bought. The others I have sold for $650.00. One jewelry box alone had 6 compartments and went for $90.00. The woman loved it. She was a jewelry collector at a show. These are all from the 40's and 50's. I want to keep a few pieces I really like. I wanted to share these pieces. These are signed Sterling, Trifari from the 40's, thick Damascene bracelet, a sweetheart bracelet, a chain that looks like a necklace but in the 40's could be a book chain. I have the Damascene bracelet which is thick and earring and matching pendant with the old c clasp, the Napier Christmas tree earrings,The 3 cameo bracelet but I don't know the metal but it is whitish, the sweetheart bracelet has a cracked cameo, I don't know about the long chain with the orange beads, or the little box earrings with the turquoise and coral. The gold-tone dangling earrings are missing the center seed pearls, I think these are Edwardian Victorian. I don't know if I should get them fixed nor where to get it done?? I don't know their age. I don't think they are gold just because they look as if they have been antiqued. Any info on the fish dangling earrings? Some of these I really don't know much about. I would love your input. Thank you and Enjoy

Wow, I wish I would have seen her whole collection!
I am a little sad that her kids were so dismissive of something she obviously loved, sad.

I have been selling a few pieces elsewhere. Any information on any of these? Like the fish earrings etc??

      Hi,
A great lot of vintage & antique jewelry! The fish earrings are very beautiful. I believe they are Chinese and they are certainly silver & enamel with real polished gemstone pendants, I can see two colors of jade at least. Check out antique/vintage Chinese silver & enamel jewelry on Ebay or the web. Your earrings look very unique and large. This is a desirable set.
FYI: the butterfly earrings and cameo wirework bracelet look like 800 silver; the Asian boxy earrings with green and orange stones are also likely silver. These pieces while silver are more common than the Chinese enamel earrings, which are the most valuable among the silver jewels pictured. The Victorian necklace on the bottom of the pic with the large clear crystal rose-cut stones may have real coral beads, as may the multi-strand silver necklace above it with more pinkish beads.
      Good Luck!

Thank you so much Anna, Do you know anything about the damascene bracelet which is heavy and the matching little strange shape pin with the C clasp.

      Hi,
Vintage Damascene costume jewelry is collectible, and a showy bracelet is always a very desirable piece to add to a collection. Your bracelet looks older than other Damascene pieces I've seen, the designs on the links look more muted and detailed than the more crude work that is high contrast black and bright yellow gold on later vintage pieces. Looks like silver is used in the traditional technique, but I cannot be sure. The Moorish tile designs are very nice. Because it is more unusual and doesn't look like the huge volume of vintage Damascene tourist jewelry on the market, it might be a good idea to have an appraisal to get a real idea of the value and just to make sure it is the usual gold-plated and not a high karat gold. Similar size Damascene link bracelets are typically sold in the range of $50-$100, again, yours looks more unique and nicer than most.
The crescent-shaped pin with C-clasp is not a matching piece that originally went with the bracelet, but from an earlier period. It is Victorian, and likely Gold-Filled. This type of enameling is called taille d'epergne. With its fixed bale it looks like it may have had another o-ring bale (which you can add), so that it could be worn as a pendant, or possibly was converted into a pin from a pendant, or had another piece attached.
      Hope that helps!
      Regards,
      Anna
