Today my Aunt found this coin in a jar full of other coins. She scanned it front and back for me to see. Neither of us have any knowledge of the origin of this coin... BIG MYSTERY. And the coin is super paper thin according to my Aunt.

You must be more bored than I am! My truck is in the shop so I have an excuse as I'm grounded.

One of my friends on facebook just let me know it is a Jeton Louis XVI "fountain" token. I looked on Numista.com and numista says: Obverse; Lettering: LVD. XVI. DG. FR. ET NAV REX... Reverse; Water Fountain, Lettering: OMNIBUS NON SIBI IETTON. Country: *Tokens* (France). Year: 1791. Metal: Brass. Diameter: 24 mm. Engraver: Johann Christian Reich. We're curious of what the value of this coin may be.

Interesting piece as that was in the 1st yrs of the revolution & anything of value was melted down(even paper-thin). Very well could be a scarce item. They used the guillotine in the town square about a mile from where I live.

      @ blunderbuss2...
Wow! I'm on the phone with my Aunt right now reading what you wrote and it's totally blowing both of us away...

Louis XVI was arrested by the Revolutionary Commitee in 1792 & executed in '93. Most symbols for the aristocracy were eliminated. Your's survived. I'm not saying it's worth anything, just a conjunction of history that makes it interesting.
I drive past that "square" everyday without a thought to heads rolling down the street.
