This is another one of my fetishes. If it looks like someone I love, I buy it. Even though I have some that are much older then you see here, these are my favorites. When I was little I had my Mrs. Beasley (now I own 4) I had that I had to have Tutti! I had Raggedy Ann & Andy, and had to have camel with the wrinkled knees! (that I still have)
So where did the mini collector go from there? Movies and Music, books! Shirley Temple, Deanna Durbin, Clark Gable. Heck my first poster was Robert Mitchum when David Casidy was all the rage.
Yes I have some of the older dolls, but they only appeal to the doll collectors. I have lots of those, but Characters appeal to all people of all ages and sexes. So here are my some items that have out around the house.
I love your collection, Which one is Deanna Durbin? She married a distant cousin of mine, My parents went to the wedding.
Thanks! I didn't put Deanna up. She is with my doll collection. I have found the old movie stars like her, Margaret O'Brien and Shirley Temple appeal only to doll collectors.
Marx Bros.! Is that Louis Armstrong? Very cool!
My Louis (Satchmo) Armstrong really is what started the whole thing. I also have a Victrola record collection, Louis, Billie Holiday, Nat King Cole, Cab Calloway, R&B big time. So my Mother (now passed) found Louis some 25 years ago at a yard sale for me for a whole quarter.
Groucho wears my grandfathers glasses, Harpo was a gift from a good friend. Chico alludes me by himself. Often I see him for sale in the group however.
These Esco statues were made in Canton, and the company makes them still today. Well, not these, they are much older and Satchmo is the prize. There is another Harpo I will have and a few others I am always on the watch for. The highest price Esco grouping is the Beatles. Can you say lottery?
I have a WC Field statue like that!
wondering if you like to have me email so we can chat about our stuff here it is if you chat jimmy61875@yahoo.com
love that beetlejuice doll! it'd go great in my collection!
It's fun. His head spins around
Not sure which I'm a bigger fan of.....Marx Brothers or The Coop!
