I have come into possession of this clock and cannot find any information online about it. It is labeled 'SETH THOMAS CONN #103' on the bottome, but has no date or other information. It is really beautiful and in wonderful condition. Does anyone out there know anything about this clock?
I'm not a really big clock fan but I like this one a lot & it is beautiful. I'm sure you know Seth Thomas is a collectable.
You clock is found in noted authority Tran Duy Ly's Seth Thomas Clocks and Movements book on on page 486. He refers to it as "Cabinet Unlisted, circa 1894". That means that it was in someone's collection and he couldn't find it in any of his extensive Seth Thomas catalog resources. While that doesn't give you a model name, it is listed in a widely recognized and respected clock reference book which any serious collector of Seth Thomas clocks would immediately recognize.
While I don't know if I would call it rare, I think it would be safe to say it was not a common model. It's a very nice, genuine antique Seth Thomas, ornate oak(?) cabinet/mantel clock with metal ornaments. It appears to have a time and strike movement, probably an 8-day windup.
Current market value? I'd guess $175 plus or minus $50...maybe more depending on the market and whether or not a couple of collectors were interested at the same time.
Hope that helps.
