Here is an interesting item that I thought I would share for some knife collectors out there or any others that may enjoy this sort of item. It is a 1918 Flylock pocket knife. The company was formed by George Schrade and was only in existance from 1918-1928. This brand of knife is very collectible. The blade is odd on this so if anyone knows exactly what it is called I would greatly appreciate any feedback you can provide. I think it may have been used in some way for fishing? It was found with a bunch of other fishing stuff.
It is in great working shape and complete with no chips or cracks on the handle. It also opens and closes by snapping into place as it should. The one side says Flylock Reg U.S. Pat. Off. 3-5-18 and the other The Flylock Knife Co. B'Port Conn. It is about 4 inches across when closed and 6 3/4 inches when opened.
Thanks for looking as always my friends and have a blessed day and upcoming weekend! : )
I have a knife smiliar to this, and I have always heard them called "hawk bills". I assume it was due to the shape of the blade. They were popular back in the day, probably 20-30 years ago. I don't see them for sale much these days, usually flea markets, cheap imitations from China. This is a great example of the originals. Thrifty
Spell check - "similiar". Sorry about that. Thrifty
Thank you so much for the information ThriftyGypsy. I have not been able to find anything that looks like this and from what you are saying they are getting harder and harder to find. The sharing of your knowledge is appreciated. No worries about the misspelling.
Awesome info AR8. You never cease to amaze me with the amount of knowledge you have when it comes to collectibles. I appreciate you sharing the information in your post. Flylock appreciates your love as well my friend! Have an awesome day and upcoming weekend! : )
Sure AR8. This info is also very good to know. Thanks for sharing yet once again. : )

Nice knife!
Does it still spring open?
Thank you for the comment MillerBros. I appreciate it. Yes it does still spring open when you push down on the handle knob. Then you can also lock it back into place as it should.
I have the twin to your knife, have had it for a long time. I was told that it was a pruning knife for orchard work or grafting. While your working it is convenient to hold a branch with one hand and flip open the knife with the other.
