Found this old game whilst clearing out my grandparents home.
I was not around in the 60's so was wondering if this was a popular game or not.
This has never been played with, I unfortunately tore the corner of the box when pulling it out of the cupboard, but other than that it is in very very good condition. Its a great game to play too!
None of the cheques or tickets have been removed from their books.

Can anyone remember playing this game?
Is it worth keeping as a future investment or should I donate to a charity shop?

    Any help appreciated

    Thanks

      Original 1961 edition
The object of the game is to visit as many of the principal cities of the world in as short a time as possible, starting from London; to purchase a souvenir of each place visited and return home to London when an agreed number of souvenirs have been purchased.
Travel is made by Air, Sea, Rail and Road. Tickets are purchased at any of the appropriate ticket offices, or at Thomas Cook & Son, and money may be changed at a Bureau de Change, the Bank or at Thomas Cook & Son.
Travelers run all the risks of international travel; having unexpected luck en route or encounter complications with customs and local regulations.
Players must also change currency frequently throughout the game.

Thank you for that information Dave, it does indeed have many different currencies, some of which are no longer with us since the birth of the Euro. Looking at it now I can now see how the game is played as you have explained it in laymen's terms, which suits me fine.
As the game is in such good condition, and by good condition I mean all the travellers cheques and rail tickets and travel tickets are all still complete and in their books, even the rules are there and in great condition. All the parts are there and because it has never been used, the board is still very firm, no floppiness from years of playing and opening and closing. The colours are as vibrant and fresh as the day it was printed.
I think it could be wise to hold onto such a game as I have a hunch that this could be worth more the older it gets. Soon board games will become obsolete as the computer generation takes over, they will become a by gone era. It has the famous E Type Jaguar on the cover, a classic in itself but relatively new in 1961 and hailed one of the great sportscars of its time.
I store it in an air tight container so it cannot get damaged and who knows - maybe in 20 years I might be able to buy my Grandson (he is 3 now) his first car with the proceeds from the sale of this game in 20 years time along with various other objects/items that I have on display on the site, I think that my estate will be worth a considerable amount, depending on how long I live for of course. I shall be listing more soon, as there are many things I am unsure about! Everyone has been so helpful so far.
      Thank you everyone :)
