This is not an important glass; common glass top hat, both vintage and late Victorian. Cranberry red with deep blue fire polished rim. It stands 3`` tall and 4 `` across the longer diameter at the top.
What made me post it here? The maker, whoever he was, wanted it perfectly made; why should one bother with polished pontil? Have seen very few with it and mostly pressed glass. And the rim in contrasting deep blue glass nicely and very carefully executed. I am aware there are many American and British top hat glass makers of excellent quality; this one is not signed, though. Probably some of you would kindly be able to recognize who made it; just very curious.
Thanks in advance.
