While on a road trip through central Saskatchewan we went through a number of small towns, some only had a few inhabitants others possibly 200.
The reason was to see what was left of the towns where Manikins Canadian branch of her family once homesteaded & still live.
Picture #1 Grain Elevator with part of roof missing, would loved to have poked my head in for a look & some more pictures.
#2 & 3 no explanation required
#4 Road drag / grader, would have been pulled by horses or tractor.
I just love these and I thank you so much for taking time to do the photo's and meeting my family . Your awesome !

Don't forget my good wife, she had a hand in this & even got to buy a nice piece of glass at a small shop we found along the way.

Thanks Sean, I wish we would have had time to explore a little more, it was fun though.
Thanks for the love, Hedge, Mani, official, mikie, scandi, miKKo, chevy, gargoyle, Bellin & Phil.
Great pics, definately my kind of places.
Thanks for the comment & the love packrat, not quite as rough & weather worn as some of the cool places you found.
Thanks for the love kerry.
Love photos! reminds me of kid in Nebraska!
You're right toracat, you could drive throughout the central plains of NA & see many of the same sights, thanks for the love & comment.
The giant grey grain elevators in the mid west were called battleships of the plains by some people, they looked like battleships!
@ toracat, I can see why they would call them that.
In Canada it wasn't until the 80's that they started tearing down the old wood elevators & replacing the with the large concrete monoliths!
Thank you Shawnl86 ! I appreciate the love one this post :-)
I'm not sure Phil. It was definitely missing a large part of it's roof. I'm sure it will meet the same demise as those in your old home town. There is a newer one just to the west of this one. For many communities the grain elevator was the glue that bound them together, when they closed so did the community.
It's sad to see the these iconic landmarks of the prairies disappearing. It has motivated some communities to attempt saving what they have, before they are all gone.
