Found this cool indoor stored bicycle today at a yard sale. Great jet age graphics featuring a big Boeing B47 US Air Force nuclear bomber on the chain guard. It is branded as a Shapleigh's Jet, Shapleigh Hardware Company. Anyone recognize the actual manufacturer and year built. The serial numbers are under the crank housing as follows: S 3997 55EH.

I would guess CWC made Roadmaster bike. Then sold to and badged as a Shapleigh's.

I'd also wager that the chain guard sold by itself to put on to a boys bike would far exceed what you may have paid for the complete bike.

Thanks for the input. I also came up with CWC as a possible maker or a Snyder made Rollfast as a possible manufacturer. The chain guard shape appears to have been used by CWC and Rollfast. The short single flattened tube from the seat post top down to the rear fender area of the frame appears to be a Snyder / Rollfast characteristic. Don't know if CWC bikes had that design too. 15 bucks was the firm price of the lady who sold it to me.

Really liking the license on the head tube. And a clean looking bike.
