a few years ago after ted and i retired -- we quickly got tired of retired life -- so we decided we would do something we could share together and something we both loved -- restoring antiques seemed to fit the bill
after doing a few restorations and feeling very gratified with the work and seeing the quality of the older pieces -- we decided to throw out the furniture we had and start again with antiques -- the roadshow would hate us -- as we seem to prefer to tear things apart -- strip sand stain etc etc -- but it is our nickel so it did not bother us what the antique dealers thought
this is a cute sewing cabinet that we found in a canby oregon antique store this summer for $55 -- it was loaded with sewing goodies and goobs of silk threads -- well worth the $55 just in thread and sewing tools alone -- after it was totally torn apart and put back together again -- i thought it needed some bling -- so decided to add some singer featherweight decals and new brass draw pulls to spice it up -- so it would not look so drab next to the featherweights we had restored -- i just love her -- to me she is such a cutie and a joy to have in the sewing room
Beautiful piece. You 2 did a great job & I feel you appreciate your efforts.
thanks bluderbuss -- will check out your postings -- the loves always inspires the artisans
What a great old cabinet! I understand what you mean about the roadshow people hating you. *L* There are some things that I feel need to be left as they're found to preserve their history and character. But when it comes right down to having to LIVE with these things, sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. I love the treatment you gave it and I'm glad it found a home with you. :-) Thanks for sharing it.
thanks chinablue -- glad you liked it
thanks to all for the recent loves -- weather here in the northwest is finally coming around with some sunshine -- will be a great day to work in the garden and get these hands dirty -- have a great week guys
