This has been in my house longer than I have been alive. What do I have here? Its labeled New Haven and it has a pendulum and key. It does chime but not on the correct hour. Love to know more about this.
Looks like you have a wood case mantel clock called the "Shelley". I can't find it in any of my references but if I had to guess (and I do) I would say somewhere around circa 1925. You can move the hour hand forward (clockwise) to the right hour and then just set the minute hand (very important to move the minute hand clockwise ONLY). That would get it synchronized and set. If it doesn't stay synchronized, you should have it looked at by a professional. That might be a good idea anyway if you don't know when the last time it was serviced. Nice clock BTW!
Lovely clock. New Haven is an American company, and I think this would probably be one of their 1920's examples. Your chiming problem is easily fixable. You just need to move the hour hand to the correct hour that it must strike. Thanks!
