This is a porcelain jester that my dad has. It was my Great Grandfather's. There is a note on a piece of paper inside of i,t that says it was given to my great Grandfather by Santa Clause. He was born in 1886. I'm guessing that it was given to him in the 1890's since he would have been a child then and it was given to him by "Santa". It's porcelain and the head bobbles around. The head is held up by a toothpick. I'm not sure what held the head up originally. There are no markings, signatures, or dates on it or inside it. Has anyone ever seen one of these before? Any info would be greatly appreciated

Nodders like yours dates back to the 1860s-1880s. The head of the this nodder will brock back and forth when the surface the nodder is sitting upon is moved. The style of these "nodders" were often used by those of Asian culture to warn of Earthquakes as the nodders head and hands would begin to move
Yours appears to be German made and very desirable piece . It appears a chip is missing by his collar that held head in place . I am trying to locate your exact one and will continue to look .
One similar it is a lady

Several German as well as Asian countries made these . Miessen did some. A fine German Porcelain company in Germany for one . I can't see the face real clear on your Jester .

I thought Punch also but could find none that looked like him . But I agree it is a possibility.
