Another beauty for our viewers. It is a T. Brewer (Preston) chain driven key wind fusee pocket watch c.1842 in a sterling silver case. Thanks for looking and enjoy. It has the English standing lion silver mark, the Chester hallmark and the "D" for 1842.

Love these old fusees... The amount of hand work that went into them is amazing!! How ornate are the pillars?

I am not a watch collector (bicycles) but stumbled upon this particular post during the course of geneology research. Philadelphia Watchmaker Thomas Allibone Brewer (1809-1864) is my 3rd Great-grandfather and I would like to determine if this watch may be attributed to him. I have my doubts but remain opptomistic as my knowledge thus far is minimal. I have observed other "Thomas Brewer" watchmakers of English origin. T.A. Brewer was American with ancestry traced to mid 1600's Brooklyn. His business was Philadelphia based and was active from 1820 to his death in 1864. His last location was Callowhill and Julianna Sts. though the latter no longer intersects at Callowhill. Any comments or insight would be deeply appreciated. I am new to this forum and do not see any way to contact the OP directly but perhaps like the bicycle forum I am a member of (The CABE-"Rusty McNickel") there is a waiting period for DM members.
