This is some type of an old tool that came from my mother's house. Her father (my grandfather) was a carpenter. I don't know if it is some type of carpentry tool or not. On the handle it says in raised letters "The MUNGER". I think it is made of iron and it is approximately 10" to 11" long. The handle on the bottom left rotates. The T shaped part on the top right moves up and down and the trigger moves the horizontal part in the middle to the left when squeezed. I would like to know just what this item is.
is it some kind of tool for making rope out of hemp? it kind of reminds me of one i saw once a long time ago.
I wonder if this tool is related somehow to L. De F. Munger inventor, bicycle racer, & co owner of a coachwork company in New York.
His inventions related to his light weight wheel improvements & centred around The Munger Bicycle, & Munger Cycle Company.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am going to do some research on it now that I have a couple of ideas.
