I can't seem to take a photo that would show the gorgeous etching and cutting on this tumbler. Is this crystal? I have two tumblers, each has a bird in a very detailed landscape. One tumbler has a Crane type bird and the other is a smaller bird, like a Robin. The detail is incredible...who might have made these? Any information would be greatly appreciated!
No marks on the bottom? Could be Czech (Moser) or Scandinavian (Kosta or Orrefors). Some more pix of the area under the base might help with the identity. Nice engraving. The glass looks like it has a light citron colour.
Thank you for the response! No, I see no markings at all on the underside of the base - I even examined the etching for hidden marks and didn't see any either. The seems to be clear glass, any coloration is either the camera flash or just dirt. I will research your suggestions - thanks again!
Hi, since these look like they're 'reeded', I wonder if they could possibly be vases - a pair of vases? Perhaps the appearance of reeding is just an optical illusion, but if they are reeded they would be perhaps be more difficult to drink out of.
Hi, They're not reeded, its sort of an illusion. The tumbler is octagonal - 8 sided - but the bird and scenery wrap completely around anyway. They might be vases, but I think they are too low and wide to be vases. If they are really tumblers, I wonder if there was a set of 8 tumblers and a matching pitcher (and tray?) all with different birds on them? How spectacular would that be!
