This was one of my mother's wedding gifts. She married in the mid 50s, so I guess it must be from that era.
The glass has a very light green tinge in sunlight and the pattern is in silver (plate?).
Please correct me if you know otherwise.
Sorry for average pic quality, don't have the patience with electronics.
I would love any additional info.
Nice dwr !
Pretty!...:-)
Thanks Scandi, I've just checked and they're not marked. I was going on what I was told, but after 55years, memories can be sketchy. Then again, it's almost impossible to 'stamp' a hallmark on glass, and the pattern is applied to the surface.
That's OK though, it's still a pretty pattern.
I understood you perfectly...the rim is glass too. The silver around the rim is only 'surface thick' , like the design itself. So I suppose it is gilded (sorry, I'm pretty new to this site - love it- I'm just not used to talking antiques and the jargon can sometimes escape me, I mean, I would only have thought 'gilded' on wood.
Thanks mate.
Hi the silver is like silver plating it is deposited on the surface of the glass . The process is callled galvanic deposit.

Your set could easily be Bohemian or Italian , though this process was used inother countries. . I'm leaning towards Bohemian due to the fineness of the design .
I think your set would date from 1950's -1960's
Wow, Ozmarty, do you believe in coincidences? I was checking out your profile after I read your comments on another piece, when I saw your post on mine.
Thanks for the help. It was probably bought locally, Malta, so Italian would be a strong possibility.
Thank Scandi she put me on to your site .
Scandi's a woman? And she did? What a nice buzz..he he.
