We found this one at a garage sale. It appears to be influenced by Japanese art, but the characters almost look Western canonical style. It's glass topped, with the beautiful engraving beneath that. The stools all stuff nicely under the table and make it look like the table has twenty-four legs. There are designs on the edges of the stools that, when placed next to one another, form a greater picture.

Does anyone have some information about this one? I'm a bit lost.

I have seen this item before. My son's grandfather was smerchant marine who travel extensively to China, Japan and other parts of the Orient. He is 90 years young. And according to him, this item is combinstion tea table set that is common in thst part of the world. In years past, it was found in most households during the forties and fifties. It was later made popular by foreign travelers who sought out items for export to the US.
