I work at a recycling scrap metal yard in Birmingham, Alabama. I came across this item yesterday and just couldn't let it go to the junk pile. I have no idea what type of helmet it is. It is a metal elmet with the liner still attached. It looks to be very old. It has alot of rust but no damage otherwise. It could possibly be a military helmet, but im not sure. If anyone can give any type of thought on this piece it would be great.

Looks like a civil defense or maybe construction helmet. The dome is a little to spherical to match up with military helmets, as far as I know. We'll have to let Petey give the final say.

      Nice save though!

This is most definately a WWII (US) Civil defense helmet, I have one in my collection. I can tell by the rivits in the helmet, and the liner, They are not worth much, But they are a cool item, Don't let it go to the scrapper.
