I just purchased this at an auction & am interested in learning more about it. What is the history of the W. Miller & Co? How old would this trunk be? I also need some guidance on how to restore it. What are the best products to use?
Beautiful well built quality trunk from close to the date on the lock -- 1890's. A clean cloth and a little soapy water to get the initial grime off may help. Hard to tell what the covering is == looks like vulcanized paper which is hard to do much with. You may be able to take off the old varnish but without actually seeing the trunk first hand it is hard to give sound advice. I think it looks fabulous the way it is...
