Clay pottery with a metal like finish?

Found this today and was wondering if the emblem on the bottom is initials or an actual emblem? It's a type of clay pottery with a hard metal like coating. I could be wrong about the metal but that's the texture it seems to be. I loved the speckled characteristics of this piece. I've been in limbo working thirds lately, glad to be posting again. Thanks in advance for any info.
