This stunning set is a 1930s update to a design that dates back to 1908 (per the line drawings shown in the last photo) - at least two of the five pieces are marked with the square "Made in Czechoslovakia" mark (see second photo, center console bowl and upper right), which dates to the mid-1930s. These elegant mix and match pieces allow for creative arranging and striking presentation.
Fantastic grab Warren, I bet your heart was pounding when you clicked the "Buy It Now".
Dave - it was - and I was pleasantly surprised to find the marks, as it was listed as being unmarked. I was also surprised to see that they were from the mid-1930s, when the design dates back to 1908.
I suspected they were later production because of the cobalt ground color, but not quite that late.
Fantastic set, in my favorite blue papillon. It's good to know that Loetz WAS making high-quality glass even that late. This set is TDF :)
Very cool. When are you going to break out the chips and dips? ;)
Maybe today, Jeff - we're watching Redskins/Saints at my house! :)
Stunning Warren. You find the best glass!
My heart was pounding for you! When I saw this set had sold I called my husband over so he could see it on the screen! It is an amazing set and a fantastic snag! Just beautiful! Congratulaions
Just don't say "chips" and "glass" in the same sentence!
Warren, did you see the catalog photo of your pieces in the back of the musterschnitte? Check out p. 585
I hadn't seen that - how cool! Thanks, Dave!
That is cool in deed....congratulations!
Totally totally !! fab !
I was traveling in Europe when I saw this come online. The internet service was so spotty I could only sit and watch it quickly go away. I am very happy it found a great new home.
Thanks, Tony - I was on my way to bed in the wee hours when I saw this, and I knew if I didn't get it then, it would not be there when I woke up. :)
WOW-- GREAT GLASS!!
