Ive never seen anything like this. My best guess is that it is a cigar cutter. The Piece that you see coming out the side slides in and out with a sharp edge. If anyone has any ideas on what it could be or who may have made it i would love to hear from you. It has already been a cool converstation piece in the 8 hours I've owned it =)
The estate sale i got this from had some other smoking antiques so thats what lead me to my cigar cutter hypothesis. It has no markings or identifying stamps. Any info at all would be great. Thanks!
I agree with you about its function.
Wikipedia says:
There are three basic types of cigar cutters:
Guillotine (straight cut)
Punch cut
V-cut (a.k.a. notch cut, cat's eye, wedge cut, English cut)
I reckon this is a V-cut. The antler suggests Scottish? German?
Thanks for the respomse. After reading your post i searched for antler cigar cutters and found quite a few on ebay. Evidently they are from germany in the 1940's. Case closed!!
