      Wonderful!!! Don't know how you find these treasures so consistently! I love this!

      Looks like the artist's name is "Leake", though I can't be sure. Follow some Leake's for you to investigate.

      Hi, ho2cultcha! I wouldn't despair yet.

      The Douglas DC-7 pictured was manufactured between 1953-1958, and "United Air Lines" purchased more of them than any other airline, per wiki.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_DC-7

      Now, this work of art is meant to showcase the plane. Look at the very careful rendering of the plane's United markings. Everything else is just a prop. So two possible lines of inquiry suggest themselves to me. You could seek answers through a historian of 'United Air Lines' or 'United Airlines'. Or, alternatively, seek answers from an art dealer who specializes in vintage posters. This looks very like some of the 1950's era "United Air Lines" travel ad campaign posters designed by Stan Galli. However, I don't think that you work was by Galli.

      You could contact Debra Clifford at Vintage Poster Works and ask her about your work.

      You could contact the United Airlines Historical Foundation, and ask them about your beautiful art work.

      These are just suggestions. I am confident that you'll find something. I look foward to hearing more about this latest gorgeous artwork of yours! miKKo

      Wow! thanks so much mikko! great info. i've written to the UA historical foundation already and i'll let you all know what i figure out. i'm not certain that the print is very old. the typography in the title line makes me think that it's much more recent, but i don't know.

      @ho2cultcha
      I own this same beautiful art piece of the Douglas DC-7 flying over San Francisco. My late mother had it under a religious poster for many years. Have you been able to find out any information pertaining to the artist and whether it has any value? I would appreciate any information that you can provide. Thank you!
