This is the mark on the bottom of the green vase whose photo I posted a couple weeks ago. I apologize for the somewhat out-of-focus photo - it is the best I can do for now. Have you seen other Tiffany pieces marked like this?
that is an early tiffany mark but from what I understand that mark was used before nash was in the studio. I'd think that style of glass would have been later than the mark, but WDIK about Tiffany.. Not a ton : )
Yes, if it's Tiffany it looks like a Nash-era item, so I agree with your dilemma GSO. When I first saw the original posting I though "maybe early Tiffany" so...I also thought Trevaise, but that mark would say no. If someone was going to fake a Tiffany signature they almost certainly wouldn't use that one. That's what little I know :)

no idea what to make of mine. that's the only reason I had any knowledge of the mark. Reyne said pretty sure it's not actually tiffany.. so it appears someone did use this as a fake mark. Mine has all the hall marks of actually being old though. not sure who did make it.
Curiouscollects, The signature, that's what I have been waiting to see and what I suspected from the beginning...with this signature you have a very nice and rare early art glass vase. It is believed to be made by the TIFFANY GLASS COMPANY, circa 1893.
Thank you for your remarks, everyone. I am inclined to favor JJZ's post, naturally. Can someone direct me to a book or a museum collection that has a similar object for comparison?
I AGREE WITH THE MASTER JJZ........IT'S TIFFANY. I HAVE A VERY SIMILAR TREVAISE VASE WITHOUT THE ROLLED GOLD TOP WHICH TREVAISE NEVER DID. TREVAISE WAS MADE IN 1907 SO THEY ALL LOOK LIKE EARLY TIFFANY. I POSTED MY TREVAISE EARLIER UNDER AMERICAN ART GLASS.
Curiouscollects, The Charles Hosmer MORSE MUSEUM of American Art, Winter Park, Florida has one of the most extensive Louis C. Tiffany collections in existence. They have several TIFFANY GLASS COMPANY examples in their permanent collection. FYI: "The TIFFANY GLASS COMPANY was established in Corona, New York on December 1, 1885. They changed the glasshouse's name to the TIFFANY GLASS AND DECORATING COMPANY in 1892". I hope this helps.
trevaise was the nash period though. the very early one's bearing this mark were before he was with the company so I've heard it's quite different from the trevaise nash look? 1907 is quite a bit later than when this mark was used, which would have been 1893-1895 right?
