Here are my lightning rod balls and weathervane collection that I've been collecting over the years. Most of these weathervanes and lightning rod balls have spent most of their life on top of a roof, most of these date from the civil war to the great depression. I probably have over a hundred balls and weathervanes, most are here in the window but I have others scattered around the house ! Thanks for looking!

Yes mustangtony, it's called an amethyst star and moon glass ball, I also have an amber star and moon as well, it's right above the green ball on the bottom, hard to see in pics.

Your welcome, btw I have three atop my home, still in use, the weather vane one is above the main entrane and two others with Milk glass balls are at each end. If you blow up this links picture(one with the red Honda) you can see one of the ball ones.

WOW! I love these! I was going to ask about them in my last comment on the Epergne you found. Then I decided to look at other postings of yours and Volla here they are. I have not been so lucky as to have found any of these on my journeys. Beautiful finds. ~(O)-(O)~

Hey, chevy59, can you do me a favor and look at the insulator pic I have on my page? I'm trying to figure out what it was used for and walksoftly said you might know. Thanks!
