When cleaning out my in-laws house we found these items plus several more in the attic. My father-in-law was a Standard oil man his whole life. He retired from Standard oil in the early 1980's and he everything he kept in attic. I was really interested in the Gargoyle sign I have never heard of it. There were also some old license plates for fuel trucks and some metal tags that say Chevron Supreme and Chevron Diesel I think they went on the gas pumps. Of the four signs three are double sided the Gargoyle sing is only one sided.
The Gargoyle logo was used by the Vacuum oil company until 1928 when they merged with standard oil of new york (socony) and changed the logo to the Mobil pegasus that most people know .Great find! thanks for sharing.
