I found it in my toolbox. I think I inherited it from my father when he passed away in 1969, but I have no idea what it is. It's obviously a No. 1 Morrill, but what is it used for? The bottom of the handle appears to be broken off.

yup. i have one just like it too.
I learnt at an early age not to have any part of my hand above the shoulder when slamming the handle down, oooouch!
When you need to pull nails out of an old floor, you'd be crying if you didn't have one of these! Fortunately, I have two!
