This is an original 1953 Virgil stone lithograph from my private collection of Magic posters. This poster was printed in India by Young Press Lithography and is in good condition. This 1-sheet measures approximately 30" x 40" and was printed for Virgil's magic tour while in India.

Virgil Harris Mulkey (Virgil) toured the United States from coast to coast many times during the 1930's and 40's, appearing in hundreds of theaters, colleges, civic and school auditoriums annually.

While performing one of his shows, Virgil accidentally injured a young girl named Julie Capriotti who came up to help him on stage. Virgil felt so badly about the accident that he started visiting her and through this incident they fell in love and married in 1931. That year, Virgil and Julie hit the road with a 10-ton full evening show of magic and illusions.

In 1952, Virgil carried his 33-ton show consisting of 20 illusions, 120 costumes, and 19 full sets of scenery to New Zealand as the start a world tour which lasted five years; touring Australia, Tasmania, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, England and Ireland until 1957.

Returning to America, Virgil and Julie continued touring the U.S. and Canada annually through 1978. The couple retired to the home they had built in 1965 overlooking Boston Harbor in Olympia, Washington.

Thank BELLIN68, I agree. The colors are great also, just purple and white. Very unusual, this is also one of the most scars Virgil posters around. Thanks for the love brother.

Yes, what you heard is true about the "Metropolis" but you are surely never to find one surface as there is ONLY 1 known in existence. The Metropolis poster you are talking about, in my opinion, is the GREATEST movie poster ever designed for any film. It is a graphically designed work of art! Just wish I had one in my collection.

You have very good taste BELLIN68, as I have noted on some of your collections. Rock on!
