Bronze mermaid sculpture. It is at least 50 years old.
I purchased this at an estate sale.
13" tall.
I have not found a mark or a signature yet,in due time.
Looks South Asian to me because of the head adornment.
Looks like it was created with the lost wax process .
Is it a valuable item?
A keeper.
It is Bronze.I scraped it underside just to be sure.
I was having a look at this bronze and can see 2 letters ,AR which are cast into the base.
Could represent Augustine Rodin or Alexis Rudier foundry in France where Rodin had some of His casting done, during and after Rodin or something unknown . Or a reproduction , however I have found no evidence that this form of sculpture exists anywhere else.
After a bit of research I found out that any piece signed or unsigned does not represent authenticity.
