Just found these in between some old photos. I don't know much about them. Except they were from my dad from world war 2, and I decided to post them.

Thank you AR8Jason for the love. How do I find the date on it? I was thinking it was around 1944-45.

The Allies issued notes in denominations of 10 and 50 sen, 1, 5, 10, 20, 100 and 1000 yen between 1945 and 1951, during which time the Bank of Japan also issued notes. Banknotes below 1 yen became invalid on December 31, 1953 by the same legislation mentioned above.
Australia actually made notes for the occupation as well and those can be seen at the Australian Reserve Bank website

First Thank you kerry for the love and also for the info. However I am not quite sure what year you are saying the 10 sen is from.

      Hi kerry,
As I was in the middle of answering your comment the other day, I lost power on the internet. (we were having heavy rain and very windy).
Also right now my friend is in the hospital (but thank God he is now doing real good) . So I have been a little under the weather.
OK now I'm really baffled. Does this mean by dad possibly didn't get this from WWII.? As my dad never and still will not talk about any time he spent in service. (he is now 92). Therefore I feel so stupid on this subject, I really do not know much at all about it? AR8J said he can't see a date, but I don't know where to even look for a date on it? I am just curious. How can I tell the difference from the one on the site you gave me above, and the one I have of my dads?
      Thanks Kathy

      Hi AR8Jason,
Thanks for helping me out. By the way I still can't get my dad to talk, but I haven't given up yet.

Thank you walksoftly & ttomtucker for the love.

      Hi AR8Jason,
I just spoke with my dad again. He doesn't even remember the banknotes, but he did tell me if he got it after the war that it might have been something he picked up on his way home. (or maybe someone gave it to him). He said he came back home in 1946. He got married in 1947.
Also, to answer your above question, that's hard to do, as you know we live in different States. He just told me that he does belongs to the vet. organization, but that he doesn't go and has no intentions of going. The bottom line is my dad is a very stubborn old man. That's all he keeps saying to me is quote: "Some things are just better off not talking about". I than decided to changed the subject. I asked him to look around for anything he may still have when he was in the army. He told me if he finds anything he'll mail it to me. Once again I still haven't given up. Have a nice day Kathy
