I am trying to find information on Hosfeld. Anybody have any ideas? This belonged to my mother, who loved collecting antiques. It's quite nicely done -- beautifully carved and painted.

Mary from Wellington, Fl., bought my rooster, because she had the chicken. She bought hers in 1984 in Rhode Island and paid around $45 for it. She talked her husband into getting it for her. So now I can say that the chicken came and got my rooster, and mystery solved! She thinks the artists are from Pennsylvania, and Mary bought it from a folk art store in Newport RI.

Here's some additional info... A piece by them, Adam and Eve, was sold at LiveAuctions. Quite nice carving. I also found them in a 1984 article, "Fold Fest tuning Up, July 1, 1984, The Morning Call, Lehigh Valley.

"Around the corner, Gina Hosfeld is whittling a heart out of soft white pine. From Souderton, she and her husband have been working in their folk art business ever since he lost his job as a truck driver about four years ago. Usually he whittles and she paints their wryly whimsical primitive pieces, the most popular of which is a $450 fat, gray-striped cat holding an equally fat green fish in its Cheshire grin. You might say it's representative of the business.

"People see us sell a $450 item and think that we're really making money," Mrs. Hosfeld, 28, observed yesterday. "But they don't see the months and months without income. It took a long time to get (the business) to where it is now. It got to the point a while back where we were going to lose our house, our car, our kids . . . "

Does anyone know how to reach Gina Hosfeld. I have 3 items that are in desparate need of repair: 1 Jona and the Whale; 1 Mother at with Kitten; 1 Teacher - Spanks-A-Lot. All were damaged during a recent move.
Any lead would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
