Well I'm new to the whole antique thing. My dad recently gave me a few various items and one of them was this clock. I don't know one thing about clocks. I search for hours upon hours and couldn't come up with anything on this clock. On the face it reads that it was manufactured by Waterbury Clock Co. and on the back it has three patent date. may 6th 1890 dec 23 1890 and jan 13th 1891. Im just looking to find out some information on the clock. Thank you.

This was a metal novelty clock that Waterbury called their "Orb" from circa 1915. Originally retailed for $4.10.

Thank you very much. That's pretty interesting. Is it worth anything or should i just stuff it on a shelf? I just started looking up information on it and I've yet to find anything.

      You're welcome.

The all important question, eh? It looks like it is in really good condition. Does it work?

It doesn't appear to come up on the market very often. I don't know if that makes it rare, but let's say that it is not common, so I'm sure it would be worth something to a collector of antique clocks in this style or Waterbury. Tran Duy Ly appraised this model at $150 in 2001. That's for an example in mint, working condition and is usually a starting or reference point for many clock collectors. Like the economy, the clock market is down for most people.

Of course, while it is in your possession you're the only one who can decide what it is worth. If it were mine, I would probably display it on a shelf once I inspected and serviced the movement (if needed).

It's an elegant little antique clock. Enjoy!

Well that gives me plenty of information. Thank you again. Ill most likely just put it on a shelf for a few more years. I do like the clock. Also it is working just fine. Doesn't seem to stop ticking at me! Again thank you for all the assistance.
