After waiting toooo! long....it's arrived!!! all 26.5cm/10.5inches it!.. and the long wait worth every anticipated moment.
I love the strong look of drama that it has and the deep hues of the rainbow that look different when viewed from different angles.
I bought it as a Thomas Webb and would love to hear what your thoughts on it are.
Thank you for looking.
hah, Thomas wood had me googling around.. who is this Thomas wood person?!?! Webb I get it. :) what is the base glass color.
Ooops! sorry about that, one red toooo! many!.. will check the colour in the morning during day light. Thank you!...:-)
Pretty sure it's not Webb Bronze. it looks too bright and vibrant. most of the bronze I've seen is darker looking with more of a matt iridescence.
Webb Bronze always has a base green glass.
But, WDIK about Webb Bronze really. :) I could be completely and totally off. I get confused by various tricks of light in photography.
Just had a look, looking up into a ceiling light the body and base are a green, but will look again in the morning....:-)
It might be webb Bronze then. Harrach also did a dark iridescent glass as did Josephinenhuette and Kralik and Poschinger, Loetz (and probably a few others I am missing) I have quite a few dark iridescent pieces in my unknown folder.
It is gorgeous though. I love these. the bright pieces are prettier than the darker ones.
The of the couple of pieces of had of Webb's Bronze galss some have lustre like this and some can be Matt . and from observation some appear to be oxidised .
IMHO this is Webb's Bronze Glass

Oz, the danger with google images is that people often attribute all iridescent dark glass to webb. I see a lot of various makers represented in that search but they all say webb... :)

Here's an example from my collection. odds are this would get lumped in with Webb but this shape is in the Harrach depository in a clear glass and we know they did bronze and this decoration is typical of Harrach so the odds are this piece is Harrach..
My point is just that it really is hard to differentiate between the various makers with this kind of glass because it's all really close.
Hi GSO, I agree I put it there for comparison ...
Richardson also did this kind of glass. Looking at British glass by Hadjamach I am actually not sure the jug I have, that I was using as a reference for the type of iridescence in Webb Bronze, is right. the pics in the book have a lot more purple than mine has. (Not the piece I referenced above. the jug with the handle that is here on CW)
Whatever, it is BEAUTIFULL !!
