I bought this vase about a year ago from a house clearance van at a flea market. (Along with two other vases) I did not know anything about it except that I liked it very much, in fact I could not decide between the three vases and bought them all. I suppose this was the start of my interest and my discovering the beauty in all things made of glass!

LOL thanks. but in teh case of the other piece don't really know.. you could try posting a pic of the base and see if that offers any clues. the best I can do is that it definitely doesn't look mid century modern or contemporary to me in style.. guessing probably English. Clear glass is almost always more of a challenge than other kinds of glass. do you now how to look for acid stamps?

No! Complete novice!! But please do tell.

take it to a very bright area with direct sunlight or get a very very bright lamp then tilt the base in various directions to catch the light in the glass. Sometimes the mark will be easy to read or see without this step but often acid marks are nearly invisible but can be kind of seen in this kind of light. you're kind of looking for a ghost in the glass. Sometimes blowing on the base for condensation can also help uncover a mark.

Great optical effect, and wonderful color shadings. I'm not sure it isn't Mid-Century or contemporary. It must be at least 1930 or later. Just a guess.

Very nice find. I see these sometimes and am tempted, but there is a limit to my wifes tolerance, and I would have to explain why I am buying from another maker. It would have to be a total bargain.

lovedecanters! I paid £30 for the three, this one, a Josef Hospodka and a Sklo Union Optic vase, as I now know, did not at the time! But all three are worth more than £10 each - so I did o.k. for a novice!! LOL!! Have seen this one for £90.00 so would never have been able to buy it from anywhere else than this house clearance chap who did not know about it either!!
